Is Acupuncture Good During Pregnancy?

Acupuncture is one of the oldest procedures used to support several medical conditions.

How does Acupuncture support women to cope with their pregnancy and related conditions?

Supporting the Reduction of Morning Sickness and Nausea

Don’t be fooled by morning sickness or nausea. Although it’s usually considered a symptom of early pregnancy (between 6-16 weeks), some women experience morning sickness at all times during the day for their full term!

Additionally, morning nausea can also persist through to the full term.

Why does morning sickness happen according to ancient Chinese medicine? A woman’s body changes and adapts in early pregnancy, dealing with a cocktail of raging hormones. This can disrupt the natural flow of QI or energy that flows inside of our body. The objective of Acupuncture is to correct the flow of Qi and therefore support the reduction of symptoms of fatigue and morning sickness.

Supporting the Lessening of Mood Swings

Acupuncture can provide support with so much more than just physical pain!

Patients may use this traditional therapy to support the improvement of their mood and reduction of tensions that accompany the pregnancy. This incredible Chinese practice is thought to support the reduction of depression symptoms through the regulation of the body's Qi and the balancing of mood neurotransmitters in the mother's brain.

Supporting the Reduction in Severity of Back Pain

Back pain seems like a constant grievance when going through pregnancy. Some women suffer from constant back pain throughout their pregnancy which also may contribute to mood swings.

Strategically placed Acupuncture needles in the back (on a twice-weekly basis) may support the alleviation of pain and improve the mother's mood considerably.
