Almond Kheer – a tasty way to better sleep

Last Updated on 4 January 2021 by Brisbane Livewell Clinic

Good quality sleep is essential for our overall health. We always talk about fitness and diet while often forgetting about the value of a goodnights rest. It is as necessary as diet and exercise. Even in some cases, it is more important. You cannot underestimate the value of sleeping for your physical and mental health. If you want to live a stress-free, healthy, active and happy life, you must have the right amount at the right time.

Problems with sleeping are increasing at an alarming rate nowadays. You can blame many reasons, including Obesity, a busy lifestyle, different work schedules, stress, poor eating habits, etc. Although it can be tough to address all of these issues simultaneously, we can at least add some foods to our diet that can have a powerful and positive impact on our sleeping. Nature has given us so many blissful foods that can increase the quality of our sleep. Milk and almonds are just two. Consume them after dinner, and they will help you get a good night’s rest.

Almonds are a great source of numerous nutrients, including a high amount of Magnesium. Magnesium helps your body to get a deep sleep. Patients who suffer insomnia can improve their sleeping patterns by eating a small number of almonds regularly. Almonds also provide a tremendous sleep-friendly hormone called Melatonin. Melatonin helps our body to understand the internal clock and prepares us to sleep on time. Milk also contains L-tryptophan, which helps to create more Melatonin. That’s why milk is known as soothing and sleep-boosting food from ancient times.

Today we will learn about a sweet way of consuming almonds and milk together. The recipe is Almond Kheer. You can try a small amount of this recipe after dinner to help with having a great nights rest.
