Scar Tissue Massage is a fantastic way for you to release the tension, strain and discomfort of your scar tissue and its surrounding muscles.

Last Updated on 12 January 2024 by Brisbane Livewell Clinic

No matter what the cause may be, scars can create a wide range of problems that only Scar Tissue Release Massage can resolve. Your scars can be an ever-present reminder of trauma or surgery. You might find them unsightly or painful (or both). And the tissue of your scar may have knotted, your nerves may be twinging where they are caught by the scar tissue, you may be sensitive to hot and cold, and you may struggle with movement of the muscles and tissue surrounding the scar.

Thankfully, in many cases, the Scar Tissue Release Technique can bring relief. This hands-on technique has been used for decades to help relieve the problems which scarring can cause, including restriction in mobility, circulation and lymph flow. The emotional benefits of this type of massage are enormous as you regain confidence in your own body and its movement and are able to recommence much-loved activities.

Where is Scar Tissue Massage from?

Originating from a dedicated professional in the management of musco-skeletal pain, using natural drug-free methods. As a Bowen Therapist, instructor and author, he realised that specific treatment for scar tissue had been overlooked. As the physical and emotional effects of scars on the human body can be serious, he developed this unique technique to specifically treat scar tissue. He now teaches this method internationally.

How Does Scar Tissue Release Massage Work?

The body forms scar tissue as a natural response to trauma when the skin is lacerated or stitched either by accident or as a result of surgery. Collagen is laid down during the repair process results in a thickened fibrous mass which can impede proper circulation. Often the area itches or burns and can be oversensitive. After treatment, the scar tissue will not revert back to its original state, however, some scars may not visually change at all, they may just feel better to touch and less painful.
