Simple Tips for Alleviating Knee Pain

Last Updated on 8 March 2024 by Brisbane Livewell Clinic

It’s one of the largest joints in the human body, and because of this size as well as the complex structure made up of all sorts of muscles, tendons and cartilage etc, an injury to the knee can bring the whole body to a painful standstill. So let’s look at how to treat knee pain with these simple tips.

Unfortunately, it is also true that the knee is one of the most frequently injured joints in the human body. The knee-related problem often occurs with advancing age, but athletes and bodybuilders can also injure their knees doing strenuous exercises. We offer relief from knee pain and treat Knee Pain with Acupuncture treatments.

Our experts suggest the following ways to keep your knee pain in-check:

Movement

If your knee hurts a lot, the mere idea of exercise might be horrifying. However, movement is a must. When you stop moving your knee joint in fear of experiencing more pain, you are doing nothing to fix it. Instead, work with a qualified massage therapist to help your knee keep its complete range of motion and also heal from pain. Remember, a stiff knee is a lot more painful.

Hot and Cold Therapy

Using a heating pad on a stiff or tense joint will help it relax and improve the range of motion. Heat can also help stimulate the blood flow and enhance blood circulation through the painful knee joint. On the other hand, using a cold pack on a painful knee also helps by bringing down the inflammation. But the ice pack should only be applied within 24 hrs of the injury. After that, only use heat.

Acupuncture

Acupuncture is an ancient Chinese medical technique. It involves the insertion of small metal needles into the skin. These needles are targeted at specific pressure points in order to relieve stress and painful conditions. As far as pain relief is concerned, Acupuncture is a great all-natural, drug-free option and works very well for knee pain. Also, Acupuncture is one technique that has absolutely no side-effects!
